Not sure which was fact is crazier: 1) that we were asked if we could play "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" by Whitney Houston last night or 2) that we actually played it.   July 17, 2011 at 11:41am

Thought I might be the only guy that could say Weird Al (@alyankovic) was my 1st concert, til I saw Jimmy Fallon (@jimmyfallon) say the same.   12:28 PM - 13 Jul 11

Pretty cool (and yes, I saw it on my Yahoo homepage where I freely admit I get 100% of my news). Can't wait until 2024 when I take the exact same picture I took with Michael Bolton years ago.

Brought to my attention a few minutes ago...thanks AdamO!

Youbs' Nutrition Tip of the Day: If you've found that you've eaten too much in one sitting, drink a hot beverage such as coffee or tea as soon as possible afterwards. The extreme heat will help "burn off" some of the calories and fat from your over indulgent meal. Note: Orange or any other citric juice works similarly, as the acid has the same effect as the heat.

Youbs' Nutrition Tip of the Day: The french fries you take from someone else's plate are way less fattening than the ones that you would have gotten had you not been smart and replaced them with a side salad. And if the other person doesn't see you take them, then they actually have zero fat. Its a fact. Look it up.

Youbs' Nutrition Tip of the Day: The bacon in a cobb salad is way less fattening than strips of bacon, like at breakfast.

Longest current Boston championship drought: The New England Patriots, 6 years. There are 5 year old kids walking around New England who have never seen them win the Super Bowl! (remember, that's 42 in dog years). June 16, 2011 at 9:41am

Welcome to Boston, Stanley. We've heard a lot about you. June 15, 2011 at 11:10pm

Outside of a couple of Sunday School art contests, I've never won first place in anything...that is until last night when Scott McCue and I somehow won the 2nd week of the talent competition at The Lansdowne Pub! (I'm giving all the credit to Scott's tight t-shirt.) It's a great, fun Sunday event that I recommend you check out...especially July 10th when we're in the finals! June 6, 2011 at 11:14am

Check this out...my great friend Tom Trabulsi's new book Sandaman's Riposte was recommended in Bill Reynolds' column in the Providence Journal today! I've been reading his column since I was a kid (as I'm sure many of you in the RI/MA area have as well) and was excited to see he mentioned Tom's great debut novel!

Jimmy Fallon broke out laughing in every non-funny SNL skit he was in. I have no idea how he doesn't crack up in some of these Neil Young/Bob Dylan spoofs he does:

Here's a fascinating, intriguing, riveting interview I did recently on the popular RI late night talk show "Wicked Late with Brendan Kirby." My mom went on and on complimenting Brendan after she saw it...and never said anything about me

And sometimes, Phil can be an ass...

Here's a very good, and very well thought out review of A&D. And as someone who's used to getting B's all through school (elementary, middle, high, college, grad...), I'll take it!!! Much thanks to The Daily Vault for the listen and review!  http://dailyvault.com/toc.php5?review=6912

Wow, rough week for Tiger Woods. He falls to 12th in golf's world rankings, and to 2nd in the sleazy womanizing world rankings, behind new #1 Arnold Schwarzenegger. May 23, 2011 at 8:59pm

At 10am yesterday my friend ran a 5 mile race in the same clothes he wore out on the town until 2am the night before. With every other runner in t-shirts, shorts, and sneakers, he wore a dress shirt, jeans, and shoes. He didn't win...but its times like this where you realize that's not really what's important. What's important here is...actually, I'm not sure what's important. But I salute him. May 23, 2011 at 12:44pm

Thanks so much to all our friends who came out to the Zippah show last night (even those that were tardy). I hope that ten minutes of Ayoub was enough to satisfy you for the night. Or left you wanting more. (I'm never sure which is better).

Here are some pics:

"Basement" was played on 92.5 The River last night. 92.5 is one of the coolest stations in the country (happily located right in the Boston area). How'd I know? One of my friends who doesn't even like my music (dummy!) heard it. Awesome!!! (Oh, and I checked the website just to make sure he wasn't pulling my leg, and it was indeed listed...)

Did I write this? No. But I could have.

The other day a friend told me he noticed I had a gray hair. So I defriended him. He's not even on Facebook.
From Sue McDonald: For my Bruce friends--Here's a short post my friend Phil Ayoub and I wrote about "The Wish". Happy Mother's Day to Adele Springsteen and thanks for buying him that guitar!!

To my Rhode Island friends, I will be appearing on one of the state's TV institutions "Wicked Late with Brendan Kirby!" It is scheduled to premiere tonight at 10:30 on Cox 13 and Verizon 32. I will be interviewed by the big fella and will perform a solo acoustic version of Flowers at Work. Perfect for Mother's Day! Catch it if you can...

Saw an old piece of graffiti yesterday that said "Rest in peace, Michael Jackson." Then underneath it someone else wrote "Don't tell him what to do!" (And that made me laugh for an hour...)

All I'll say is it includes the phrase "he's also handsome as heck." Yeah, this is DEFINITELY my favorite review of all time!!! (Not to mentioned things like "Crystal clear pop with style.") Very nice article on my friends who created The Pulse Network, where Single MENtality airs! (As an aside, nice to see the Ground Round is back on its feet again. Anyplace that has been giving away free popcorn for over 30 years is aces in my book.)

Jango (the internet radio site) just told me "Your songs were most popular with fans of The Killers, Jim Croce, and Lindsay Lohan." I have to be the only musician/songwriter to ever get anyone to reference those 3 artists (and I use the term "artist" loosely in one case) in the same sentence!

This is one of the most well-written reviews I've gotten in a long time! I also feel like the reviewer "got" a lot of what Tim and I were going for, which was very nice to see. Feel free to read and also check out the other artists he recommends!

Fantastic review on The Muse's Muse!
"The writing, playing & singing abilities of Phil Ayoub & his band are rock solid, the melodies & harmonies are masterful, & the lyrical content is packed to the hilt with clever with & rich conventional wisdom & messages full of hope."

Ever notice when people "check in" from a location on Facebook or Twitter, its always somewhere cool? A fancy restaurant, a trendy bar. No one ONLY goes to cool places! There should be a rule that says you also have to check in from the crappy places you go to. Like..."5:47pm: Ted just checked in from Ruby Tuesday's." "3:22pm: Molly just checked in from The Dollar Tree." "10:12am: Steve just checked in from the urologist's office."

April 6
Only in Providence can a guy play 3+hours of music, originals and covers including Rosalita by request, a Sexy Bitch/Sexy Back/Apple Bottom Jeans medley, snippets of Just A Friend, Jump Around, Mo Money Mo Problems, and Rebecca Black's Friday, and end the night in the crowd doing a rocking version of Sympathy for the Devil...only to hear this complaint from someone at the end of the show: "What?! No Humpty Dance?!"

April 6
What other acoustic singer can accommodate a request with a spot-on Rosalita, and then follow it up with a Sexy Bitch/Sexy Back/Apple Bottom Jeans medley? Answer: NO ONE ELSE!

I've been extremely fortunate to have many of my songs played on great radio stations around the country. I had not, however, had the experience of turning the radio on and randomly hearing one of them. Until last night. That was pretty fun!

1. "Arrivals and Departures" by Phil Ayoub
(he's not very good at math)

I have rocked down to Electric Avenue plenty of times, but has never been able to take it higher. I don't think its possible.

Dec 23

Got Pandora? Love Pandora like I do? Well "Arrivals and Departures" was added recently (SWPH has been on there for years) so feel free to fire up the "Phil Ayoub Radio" and let the fun begin! Listen to songs by me sprinkled in with artists that are like me! Consider it a holiday gift. I ordered a chicken sandwich at a Burger King drive thru. They have a "buy one, get one free" offer so the woman asked me if I wanted the second one. I said sure. Before completing the order I told her I wanted to cancel the first sandwich, and just keep the free one (I wasn't that hungry). 2-3 minutes of broken English confusion followed, but it didn't work. At that or any of the 3 other BK's I tried it at after

Travels with A&D in Search of...something

A&D teeing off on at the historic 18th hole at Pebble Beach, needing a birdie to win...

 Expect anything different???!!!

From another angle...

With the trophy. A&D has been compared to Tiger in a number of ways...and now you can add golf to that list.

Selling beautiful unique beverage coasters...a perfect gift for the holidays! They come in 2 designs, the "Arrivals and Departures" and the "Schoolbus Window Paper Heart." Not only do these plastic-cased coasters protect your furniture from ugly drink stains, they also double as music CD's containing 13 and 12 songs respectively! Collect all two!

12/15/10
Congratulations to A&D for being named one of Barbara Walters 11 Most Fascinating People of 2010! (she chose to televise numbers 11-2 in one show, and is obviously planning on doing a full hour on #1, air time TBA). Not a surprise. In 2010 A&D has been born, been to the World Cup and safaris in South Africa, Cleveland ...the day after LeBron’s “Decision” to watch the mural “We are all witnesses” taken down, the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame to pick out his spot which will be waiting for him in less than 25 years, the Stone Pony and other spots in Asbury Park and New Jersey, the Celtics/Lakers game 5 of the NBA finals (after a crazy weekend in Vega...s), concerts like Weezer and Jackson Browne, has been played on WDHA, WZLX, and other great stations, done a Habitat for Humanity build on Cape Cod, won a golf tournament with a dramatic birdie putt on the 18th hole at legendary Pebble Beach, partied in New York City, San Francisco, Turkey, Amsterdam, and Switzerland, and had a mile high threesome with two hot stewardesses…oh, and the year ain’t ovah yet!

If you haven’t picked up your copy of A&D yet, what are you waiting for?! It’s one of only 3 albums in history to reference Richard Simmons, Elvis Presley, Tony Danza, Viagra, Clint Eastwood, Seinfeld, Friends, the game show Press Your Luck, Big & Rich, Jerry Garcia, and Krispy Kreme. The other 2 being The Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers and the self-titled Evan and Jaron record. And it’s the only one of the 3 to include a dog and a cat on vocals and instruments!

11/29/10
I just want to tell you all...good luck, we're all counting on you.

It is indeed a bittersweet day...Paul, the Octopus that predicted the outcomes of the World Cup matches, has passed away. Rumor has it his final deathbed prediction was that an album called "Arrivals and Departures" by a little known New England artist would suddenly sell millions of copies, becoming the soundtrack to... people's lives in the latter half of 2010 and into 2011. This courageous little 6-legged creature gave us everything he had during that World Cup. I think we all know what we have to do to honor his alleged final prophecy... http://www.philayoub.com/
